CELEBRATE ART // TOURS OF THE OLD BUILDING

landunderwater.jpg

You are warmly invited to join us this weekend for a building tour with a twist.

Before redevelopment work starts next year, the Old Building will be brought back to life for a "last blast" of audio-visual art installations - and one or two surprises.

Numbers are strictly limited so booking is essential. Scroll down to book.

The main exhibition will be Land Under Water, featuring artworks by young people from Argyll working with Templar Arts and Leisure Centre, Tarbert (talc.), who have been responding to themes related to the sea during the last year.

Their work explores utopian architectural ideas on how it might be possible to live as sea levels rise, and takes inspiration from the beauty of the ocean, waves and drifts to create patterns which are then printed on fabric, or laser cut as a sculptural element.

All the young people’s artworks use a mix of digital and analogue art techniques and they are partly responsive – they react to the visitor’s presence. Visually they relate to contemporary and parametric design, and the sound elements feed back to the visitor’s touch.

In addition to the talc. young artists' work, there will be elements drawn from The Rockfield Centre arts programme, including some live performance.

Tours are free but ticketed. Much-needed donations will be gratefully received.

Unfortunately the tour route includes stairs and may not be suitable for those with restricted mobility. For further information on this, please contact Rhona on arts@therockfieldcentre.org.uk

Tours will run on the hour from 11am to 2pm on Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th December..
