Wellness Matters  – creation of Willow Suite

Recognising the increase in engagement and the value that our supporters have had from the activity programme we have delivered over the last year, a decision was made in early January to apply for funding to adapt and utilise our space to bring a  “wellness” plan forward.

The funding secured from Scottish Government Adapt and Thrive allows us to bring our plan to life as we slowly come out of lockdown.  The funding of £69,332 will enable us to build our capacity with a new post, adapt and increase delivery with new creative activity whilst also working collaboratively with others to support the wellness of our community in a dedicated area.

The Willow studio is best described as a comfy creative sanctuary which will be able to accommodate the delivery of a new programme of activity including crafts, writing, photography, mindfulness, music, weaving and much more but it will also allow us to enhance our ability to link to our other programme of activities planned for our messy arts space in the Hawthorn studio and our outdoor and indoor Eco creative project.

The additional resource also gives us for the first year the opportunity for other voluntary groups to use the new suite for sessions at a subsidised rate, provided the activity can demonstrate support to a wellness programme.

It has been a difficult year for us all but this objective enhances The Rockfield Centre’s core themes of arts, wellbeing, education and heritage.  Our hope is that this along with our much larger programme of engagement it brings new opportunities to reduce isolation, build friendship and support community wellbeing through active participation for all ages and stages of life.
