Young Archaeologists Club

The Rockfield Centre Young Archaeologists' Club is open to everyone aged 8–16 years. The YAC club gets involved in all sorts of activities, including visiting or investigating archaeological sites and historic places around the town, trying out traditional crafts, taking part in excavations, and learning about the science of archaeology.  We explore all eras of human history in Oban and surrounding areas, such as the hunter-gathers, the Picts, Gaels, Vikings, and Victorians.

The Rockfield Centre runs an approved branch of Young Archaeologists Club (YAC) for 8-16 year olds. Based at the Centre we meet on a Saturday once a month during term time.

To enquire about joining, email rockfieldyac@gmail.com

If you want to know some interesting stuff about Oban’s heritage take a look at the Junior Heritage page on the Rockfield Centre website where you can find some on line materials offering craft-based activities based on archaeological periods and technology.
