Learn Gaelic through song 

Learn Gaelic words and phrases through traditional and contemporary Gaelic songs in a relaxed, welcoming session for beginners and early learners. 

Led by our Gaelic Heritage officer - Kerrie Kennedy – Mòd Gold Medallist & Gaelic teacher 

No previous Gaelic or singing experience required.

Gaelic Heritage Talk – A War of Words

Discover the remarkable story of the world’s first Gaelic dictionary — and the man who risked everything to complete it at a time when the Gaelic language itself was under threat. 

As part of World Gaelic Week, the dictionary will be on display at the Rockfield Centre throughout the week, offering visitors the chance to view this powerful symbol of linguistic preservation up close. 

A compelling reminder of the theme Cleachd i no Caill i – Use it or lose it — and why using Gaelic has always mattered. 

Friday 27 February 

Gaelic Parent & Child Session (0–5 years)

A friendly, play‑based Gaelic session for little ones and their grown‑ups. Songs, stories and fun! 

Gaelic Café – Cafaidh Feasgar

Enjoy relaxed Gaelic conversation over tea, coffee, cakes and good company at our Cafaidh Feasgar. Alongside informal chat, there will be Gaelic board games, art activities for children, and opportunities to find out more about Gaelic events, groups, and activities happening locally

You can also submit your Oban local Mòd 2026 entries in person at the café, making this a great chance to connect, get involved, and support Gaelic in the community.

Gaelic Lego Club – No knowledge of Gaelic Required

A fun, hands-on session where young people can use their Gaelic while building and playing, and those who are learning can develop confidence with colours and numbers in Gaelic in a relaxed, supportive environment. 

Perfect for curious, creative minds — whether Gaelic is spoken every day or just beginning.
