Oban Communities Trust (OCT) is a community-led development trust working to make Oban a stronger, more connected, and more sustainable place to live, work and belong.

Established in 2014, the Trust is owned and shaped by its membership and exists to create lasting social, cultural, environmental and economic benefit for the people of Oban and the surrounding area.

The Rockfield Centre is our largest community asset, but Oban Communities Trust is much more than a building. Our responsibility as a development trust extends beyond the walls of the Centre. We can develop, support and participate in projects across Oban where they further our charitable purposes and bring genuine benefit to the community.

What we do

Our charitable purpose gives OCT a broad role in supporting the development and wellbeing of our community. We work across areas including:

  • Community development – supporting ideas, partnerships and projects that strengthen Oban and its communities.

  • Community assets – bringing important local places into community use and ensuring they deliver long-term public benefit. Our current assets are The Rockfield Centre, The Rockfield Garden, and The Rockfield Charity Shop.

  • Arts, culture and heritage – creating opportunities to participate, perform, learn, make and celebrate our shared culture.

  • Education and learning – providing spaces and opportunities for people of all ages to develop skills and knowledge.

  • Community wellbeing – reducing isolation, tackling loneliness, creating connections, and helping make Oban a welcoming place for everyone.

  • Local resilience and sustainability – developing projects that strengthen our community socially, environmentally and economically.

A Trust owned by its community

OCT exists for Oban, and community membership sits at the heart of how we operate. Our members help shape the organisation, elect our Board of Trustees, and give OCT its democratic mandate. With more than 700 members, OCT represents a substantial network of people who care about Oban and want to play a part in its future.

Working with us

Some of the best community projects happen when people bring their ideas, knowledge and resources together. We work with community groups, charities, businesses, public organisations, funders and individuals on projects that contribute to life in Oban.

Meet the Trustees

Stacey Felgate

Stacey has worked internationally, delivering large-scale research projects. She currently works for Community Land Scotland, helping communities benefit from nature restoration and development.

Stacey joined the Trust in June 2024 and spent the next 2 years creating a sustainable operating model for The Rockfield Centre. She is now focussed on strategic development, with a particular interest in how the Trust’s existing assets can be leveraged to maximise community benefit.

Neil McCorrisken

Neil has a wealth of experience which includes creating community cultural projects in Liverpool and Bristol, working in sound, lighting, and logistics at arts venues and music festivals, and volunteering within the community.

Since June 2024, Neil’s main focus has been on events, gigs, and ensuring our technical equipment and skills are as good as they can be. He also has an interest in health and safety, risk assessments, and physical infrastructure. Neil also heads up our secret project division.

Angela Hobbs

Since joining the Trust in November 2025, Angela has put her finance background to good use by helping support the Trust’s business planning, ensuring strict financial controls are in place, and overseeing contract renewals.

Angela is passionate about activities for children, and is eager to increase the Trust’s offer for young families.
