Join the Oban Music Society for a mesmerising evening of enchanting melodies as Oban Music Society proudly presents Tim Kliphuis Trio and their performance of ‘Django and the Five Elements’
Founded shortly after World War II, the Oban Music Society has been a steadfast champion of music in the picturesque town of Oban. Dedicated to promoting musical knowledge and appreciation, the society hosts a series of Sunday afternoon concerts from October to March at St John's Cathedral, welcoming children and young people free of charge.
Supported by Enterprise Music Scotland and Argyll and Bute Concert Tours, the society brings renowned artists to Oban, making classical and diverse genres accessible to the local community. A highlight is their prized Steinway Model S piano, acquired in 1985, housed in St John's Cathedral, and available for local events and performances.
Registered as a charity since 1992, the society collaborates with neighboring regions in the Argyll and Bute Concert Tours group, ensuring advantageous fees and fostering a mutually supportive musical community. As the Oban Music Society continues its melodic journey, it remains committed to enriching the cultural tapestry of Oban and its surroundings.
