The Rockfield Centre runs a number of micro projects and community outreach projects enhancing services and community engagement in the local area.
From our book bank and heritage maps, to the Community Dye Garden, our mission is to provide access to additional services and activities for locals and visitors alike.

Heritage Horizons
Oban Heritage of Colours.
Explores the dyeing and growing heritage of Oban, the origins and heritage of dye plants growing in our own Dye Garden. Full project detail can be found here
Children’s Heritage Map
Part of our heritage programme, our heritage projects include a range of fun and interesting resources for all ages. From walking maps and podcasts to our newly developed Kids Space , there’s something for everyone to explore, learn about or reminisce. More information visit our Heritage
The Eco Creative Cluster project focused on nature-based materials and dyeing techniques. This project started during lockdown was supported by Textile Artist Deborah Gray and curator Naoko Mabon, and small team of Dye Garden volunteers.
