Live music show with Nicolette Macleod.

Armed with a guitar, loop pedal and her mesmerising clear voice, Nicolette creates a beautiful seascape of sounds overlaid with arranged British Isle folk songs, her originals and some popular classics. This show gives us the opportunity to think about our personal relationship with the sea, its creatures and what we are doing to preserve it and in turn, ourselves.

Audience review ‘Genuine and by turns moving and funny, her voice blew the audience away’ - Hannah Grist

Nicolette Macleod forges emotive textural journeys through music and song; with stirring melodies, chest beaten rhythms, hypnotic looping and unexpected instruments. Based in Glasgow, Nicolette and is regularly commissioned to compose for theatre and new choreographed works. Her vocal artistry hints at her classical training, but her delivery is informed by influential female vocalists including Joan Baez, Lisa Gerard and Sandy Denny. Interweaving the edges of urban landscape with her passion for wild places. She invites the listener to join her on an exploration of passion, imagination and memory.

Nicolette has been singing professionally for over a decade and has performed at venues including The Roundhouse, The Bedford and The Union Chapel. She has also supported and sung alongside artists including The Irrepressibles, The Leisure Society and Karine Polwart. Her vocals have been used in feature film and on albums receiving prime time radio play on BBC2 and BBC6.

In 2022 Nicolette will be touring her solo show ‘The Sea and Me’, an hour long show that weaves together song, stories and personal anecdotes exploring themes of marine conservation, exploration and the magnitude of the sea. The show was chosen to be part of supported programme by The Touring Network.
