Art Exhibition

We are all natural philosophers. It is human to attempt to describe, understand and explain the world around us, so the artist’s studio is as much a place of research and enquiry as the laboratory.

Drawing on her background in engineering, Alice Strange uses scientific hypotheses, theories, formulae, graphs, tables and texts as visual vocabulary in works that help her make sense of the world.

Alice uses whatever medium is on hand – relief printing, screen printing, collage (analogue & digital), cyanotype, paint, textile & assemblage.

Alice Strange lives and works in Oban. She has degrees in electrical engineering, operations research and art history and has been trained by master printmakers in screenprinting, collagraphy and gel plate monoprinting. She has been a member of the Glasgow Print Studio since 2011 and was one of 50 members commissioned to make a print for the “Here and Now” section of “The Love of Print: 50 Years of Glasgow Print Studio” at the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum in Glasgow earlier this year.
