Journey’s To The Little Bay

With the use of our research materials, sound recordings  and our ‘Blether’ sessions we have been able to celebrate ‘Journey’s to the Little Bay’ with both families who have long connections to Oban and those that have moved here in recent years.

This project has enabled our heritage volunteers to build on the skills gained from previous small projects to progress further oral recordings, complete more research and present and share the stories to demonstrate the importance of “Journeys” to the growth of  the town of Oban.

Please contact our offices to request access to the short edition of  Journey’s to the Little Bay- written by our volunteer researcher Mhairi Ross.

Over the course of the project the materials were interpreted and shared using a variety of focus weekends –  Welcome to Oban; Railway Weekend and our Finale Sound and Film Focus.

The wealth of stories have instigated more discussion and the sharing of memories which will be added to our growing collection.

Please visit our Soundcloud page to hear Journeys to the Little Bay sound clip memories.

With support from our volunteer camera club and our research team a collage of Then and Now photographs can be viewed below for all to enjoy:
