Family Workshop

Join us for some “hands on “ family fun as we learn how to unlock the hidden colour in plants.

Plants have been used to colour cloth for at least 4000 years, and in this fun workshop Deborah Gray supported  by Tara Coggins will  reveal some  of the secrets  utilising  some plants grown in our own Dye Garden at The Rockfield Centre.

Giving you the opportunity to

- try  the Tatakizome (hammering) method to create your own textile piece  to take home

- View a demonstration of natural dyeing

-learn how to access more heritage  snippets  -  Oban  heritage of colour  digital map

This family orientated workshop will be lead by   Deborah  Gray  a local textile artist and natural dyeing specialist.

Supported by Tara Coggans a local archeologist and artist
